Felicia's Play List

1.Rainbow Eyes (Rainbow)

“Marriage doesn’t mean much to this crowd. Felicia ran off with m
MacGregor, oh years ago.” (Farmer 124) The song Rainbow eyes is about love not being real. The line in the song, “All the lights have died somehow or where they ever there?” metaphorically describes the lights as love and it questions if the love was ever really there. This is what it was like between Felicia and Mr.Alacran as Felicia ran off with MacGregor and when she returned there was no love between her and Mr.Alacran at all and then the question as to whether there ever really was love comes up. That question came up especially when we find out that El Patron makes many marriages for the people as we found out with Emilia and Steven.

2.Witchy Woman (Eagles) (she is evil like a witch)
http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/eagles/witchywoman.html
This song is describing what Felicia really is, a witchy woman. She may seem to everyone like such a nice person at the start but soon it is revealed that she is truly evil person who only wants to hurt other people. We find this out when she admits to killing furball, “But I had to be satisfied with... that filthy, slavering rat Maria called a dog.” (Farmer Page 163) (Note: Earlier she had said she wanted to kill Matt) Which shows just how evil she really is.
3. Toccata and Fugue in D minor (Bach and Tokowski) (personality)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RnEI22XlxhY
This song is in a minor key so it is dark sounding. It has intense dark orchestra music to start and continues until there are little phrases of major flute sounds in between. This is like Felicia’s personality and appearance as well as her musical side being a classical song. This song is drk and intense like Felicia is, although in the middle of it there are short bursts of major phrases. These phrases would remind someone of a little harmless birds or a harmless frail old lady like Felicia. Then the song goes right back into a dark sound like the person behind the harmless face. The going back and forth of major to minor is a good representation of Felicia’s outer and inner traits which are very what you could call, “major and minor.”

4. Piano Sonata No. 16 (Mozart)

“Line about concert piano” Most likely she would have been a classical player and because she was a concert pianist she would have been able to play a complicated piece like this one. Not only does this song relate to her because of her past with the piano but it also relates to her as a person. The song is very major and happy sounding like Felicia seems to be when playing the piano. When she played the piano she would have seemed harmless as her fingers wold have moved so gracefully and the music would be so nice sounding. This would give people the impression that she has those qualities as a person, although they are only really present when she was playing the piano.

5. 4 Seasons (Vivaldi)

The four seasons really are a great description of Felicia in a musical nutshell. Let’s start with Fall/Autumn. Fall is a season where everything is dying, dried out and frail. This is very much like Felicia from the outside. She is old and frail and she tires out quickly. She is nearing death much like the plants are in the Fall. The musical piece winter is very dark and minor sounding much like Felicia’s personality. Inside, she is an evil woman full of wrath and evil ideas and devilish thoughts much like the sound of the piece, “Winter,” has the feel of. Spring and summer are similar when it comes to Felicia. Both musical pieces are very major sounding and both seasons are happy times of growth and prosperity. In relation to Felicia, these are like the piano piece at #4 in our set list where the happiness about Felicia is related to her beautiful piano playing. The last aspect that makes these fit Felicia is that they are both classical pieces and she was a concert pianist that would have played classical pieces.

6.Diary of a Madman (Ozz)

This entire song fits Felicia very well. First off, it is very classically based as it is based off of a Mozart piece and keeps a very classical feel to it the whole way through. Although it is classically based, it is extremely dark sounding with an extremely dark theme and lyrics all of which fit Felicia’s personality. She is a dark and evil person that has done many bad things in her life and is now trapped inside of a body that she can’t escape but is still conscious like the character described in the song. If you listen to the song it has the darkest sound that would make someone who only new life by the book, The House of the Scorpion, they would think that the song was written about Felicia.

7. Evil Woman (Black Sabbath)
http://www.lyricsfreak.com/b/black+sabbath/evil+woman_20333660.html
Evil Woman, what else needs to be said about Felicia. She is an evil person in every way. “She ran off with MacGregor, oh years ago.”(Farmer 124) “I wanted to kill that abomination that El Patron keeps at his heels.” (Farmer163) She is an evil woman like the songs title states. The line in the song, “Do you wish that you could see me dead?” really describes what Matt is feeling towards Felicia. She hates Matt and wants him dead and will do anything to get him in trouble as we saw when she killed Furball and got Matt framed and when she sent Matt to see MacGregors clone. Everything that we have seen so far in the novel rightfully gives Felicia the title of and Evil Woman.

8. Cold as Ice (Foreigner)
Cold as Ice, is there a better description of Felicia? Her whole soul is cold as ice and she seems to care about nothing but herself. All she wanted to do was kill Matt but since the only thing she could get away with was killing Furball and she didn’t seem to feel remorse for doing that. She may seem like a kind fragile woman to most people, but later in the book, Matt and Maria find out who she really is, a cold hearted evil person. Also the one set of lyrics in this song “Willing to sacrifice our love” explains the fact that she pretty much abandoned her husband and children to have an affair with one of the other Farmers, MacGregor.

9. Maniac (Kid Cudi)
Just the title of this song explains how bad Felicia really is. She truly is a maniac in the way how she can be so cold and do things without caring what other people will feel. When she killed Furball, it seemed like she enjoyed doing it and was happy that the dog had died. Only a maniac could do something like that and not feel anything. When it is talking about loving the darkness in the song, maybe it could be link to the part where she goes into the dark security room and spys on the people in the house, which is kind of weird.

10. Trouble (Quiet Riot)
http://www.lyricstime.com/quiet-riot-trouble-lyrics.html This song describes what Felicia does to Matt; getting him in trouble as well as when it says, “Well I you rot, I'm gonna tell the devil about you,”  describe Matt's feeling for Felicia. "I had to be satisfied with that..... filthy, slavering rat that Maria called a dog," stated Felicia when she admitted to killing the dog that Matt got in trouble for. The chorus, "Im in trouble," would reflect what Matt must have been feeling when he was framed by Felicia.
